At IEG4 (part of IEG Group) we are committed to helping NHS teams transform Continuing Healthcare services through smarter, more joined-up digital solutions. As part of our end-to-end CHC platform, AI Transcribe, powered by Purple Scribe is an AI transcription solution, designed to support clinicians during assessments by capturing conversations accurately, reducing administrative burden and improving the quality of documentation.
Recent quarterly feedback from Herefordshire & Worcestershire ICB highlights the positive impact AI Transcribe is delivering. Feedback was gathered from seven nurses across 17 sessions, with approximately 250 sessions completed during the quarter.
One of the strongest themes from the review was usability. Staff described AI Transcribe as “easy to use”, “very user friendly” and something they “really enjoy using”. The solution has also been able to fit naturally into existing workflows, with staff pre-loading NHS numbers, meeting details and attendee information before arriving at assessments. This means minimal setup is needed on arrival, helping teams get started quickly and focus on the person at the centre of the assessment.
A key benefit of AI Transcribe is the quality and availability of the transcript. Even where AI-generated summaries required refinement, staff confirmed that the transcript itself accurately captured the clinical conversation. This is significant because the transcript becomes a reliable single source of truth, replacing handwritten shorthand notes with a fuller, more accurate record that is available within one hour of the assessment, rather than days later.
The review also provided valuable feedback on areas for improvement. Staff wanted summaries to use a more formal clinical tone and include greater clinical detail, such as BMI, weight, fluid intake, medication information, staffing numbers and equipment. They also highlighted that system-generated levels of need did not always align with the clinical judgement reached in the room.
In response, IEG4 has implemented a series of solution enhancements. Level of need scoring has now been removed, ensuring that scoring remains the responsibility of the clinical professionals completing the assessment. The capacity previously used for scoring has been redirected into producing richer domain content, with summaries now focused purely on what was said, observed and recorded.
The enhanced solution also introduces more formal clinical language, longer and more detailed summaries, and improved capture of key information such as medication names and doses, BMI, weights, fluid intake, staffing numbers and equipment. New session types are also now live, including Adult DST, Children’s DST and Children to Adult Pathway, helping ensure content is mapped to the right domains.
As AI Transcribe forms part of IEG4’s full end-to-end CHC platform, these improvements strengthen the wider digital journey for CHC teams. By supporting assessments with accurate transcription, faster access to records and more detailed summaries, the solution delivers a reduction in administrative pressure whilst supporting consistent, high-quality documentation.
The next step is to establish this enhanced version at the new standard, with quarterly feedback reviews continuing to inform future improvements. This approach reflects how IEG4 works with customers: listening to frontline users, acting on feedback and continuously enhancing our solutions to meet the real-world needs of health and care teams.
